Pul’s forensic report shows he committed suicide: DGP
Itanagar, Oct 21: The circumstantial evidence and the forensic report into the cause of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul's death show there are "99 per cent chances" that he committed suicide, state DGP S Nithiyanandam said today.
IGP Naving Payeng said the Capital district Superintendent of Police had received the report of Pul's viscera test from the Guwahati-based forensic science laboratory last week.
"There are 99 per cent chances that he committed suicide," state DGP S Nithiyanandam told PTI.
The 47-year-old leader’s body was found hanging in the official CM bungalow here on August 9, less than a month after he had to quit as CM following the July 13 Supreme Court verdict.
Denying that he had given any press statement ruling out foul play in his death, Payeng said the report did not find presence of any poisonous evidence and confirmed it was a case of suicide.
However, all reports would be sent to the court, whose verdict on the cause of death would be final, he categorically stated.
Adding to the mystery, a handwritten 60-page note was found near Pul's body, titled 'My Thoughts', which was sealed by the police.
A case of unnatural death was registered and the state government had ordered a magisterial inquiry.
The sudden death had caused a stir in this Himalayan state's already volatile politics and led hundreds of Pul supporters to take to the streets, alleging foul play and demanding a CBI inquiry.
The state saw a major political churn last month with chief minister Pema Khandu along with 42 MLAs leaving the Congress and joining the Peoples' Party of Arunachal.
The 60-member state Assembly now has 11 MLAs belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, three to Congress and two Independents.
In a swift turn of events in state's unstable political canvas, senior BJP leader Tamyio Taga was sworn-in as minister on October 14, making the BJP coalition partner of Khandu-led PPA government to become an alliance of Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) headed by Assam Minister Hemanta Biswa Sharma.
Election Commission on October 17 announced by-election to the Hayuliang Assembly constituency- which fell vacant after Pul’s death- to be held on November 19.
The PPA and the BJP are planning to announce a joint candidate for the seat while Pul’s third wife Dasanglu Pul is a frontrunner. PTI
Johny Mangkhiya to represent India in Kumite
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Johny Mangkhiya of Arunachal Pradesh has been selected for 68 kg individual Kumite by the Karate Do Association of India to participate in the senior karate championship to be held at Linz, Austria from Oct 26 to 30. Mangkhiya is the first girl from the state to be selected for the prestigious championship organized by the World Karate Federation.
Shihan Likha Tara, president, Arunachal Karate Association has been selected to represent the country as a Team India Coach. Tara is also the vice president of National Karate Federation.
Arunachal Karate Do Association, Secretary General, Bulang Marik has appealed the state government to provide financial assistance to the players who are brining laurels for the state and the nation.
Tawang festival starts with U.S. envoy in attendance

TAWANG, Oct 21: The famous Tawang festival started on Friday at historic Tawang town. Now in its fifth year, the festival has established itself as global event with presence of U.S. Ambassador to India Richard Verma.
The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal declared the three days festival open.
Celebrating the age-old relations between Assam and Arunachal, the Assam CM said, "We are from the same family of the North East India. So we will have to stay together, work together and prosper together."
He exhorted the youths to realize their potential through hard work and said that Tawang festival is an opportunity for them to explore their talent. "Tawang is not a just a place, but it's the land of Gods. The place will shine and grow and will be able to curve her own destiny in future," Sonowal added.
The Assam CM also spoke on various welfare initiatives being taken by the centre for the North East under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, chief patron of the Tawang festival said that Assam and Arunachal has maintained deep cultural ties from ages. So to celebrate this bonding, the Assam Chief Minister has been invited to be part of the festival, he informed and thanked Sonowal for accepting the invitation.
The Arunachal CM appealed the people to cooperate with state government to make tourism industry a success in the state. He said though the state has high tourism potential but the communication bottleneck is one major impediment for the sector to flourish. Khandu informed the Tawang people that bearing in mind such bottlenecks, the centre under PM Modi has given special preference for the state.
Ambassador Verma earlier thanked the people of Arunachal and especially Tawang for extending invite to him, on behalf of American people and President Obama. He said the U.S. - India relation is all time high and the country is looking towards India to work together in the field of tourism and technology.
Earlier, the festival began with Sebang, a religious procession carried out by monks from Tawang monastery to the festival ground.
18 exhibition stalls were set up, amongst which Monpa stall from Mukto and Lumla demonstrated the process of handmade paper and shengmar-akhmar making respectively. While various medicinal plants were displayed highlighting their respective uses in the Gomkang Nursery Stall, Monpa pottery making stall of Industries department displayed the age-old art of pottery making. This was followed by Mangalcharan prayer, which was recited seeking infinite blessing of the deities for auspicious beginning. Different cultural tableaus and cultural troupes from various tribes of Arunachal and neighbouring state Assam showcased their rich tradition and culture.

School Teachers to go on strike
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Arunachal Teachers' Association (ATA) along with the Arunachal Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (ARMSATA) has decided to join the proposed Pen & Tool Down strike called by AASSATA on Oct 28 to 29.
The ATA, ARMSATA and AASSATA in a joint meeting on Thursday viewed that the demands placed by the AASSATA are genuine and legitimate, which must be acted upon by the state government so that the future of working SSA teachers is secured.
The ATA and ARMSATA has joined the Pen & Tool Down strike in solidarity with the agitating SSA teachers and expressing its displeasure over non fulfillment of long pending demands of ATA.
The demand of ATA includes complete bifurcation of Elementary & Secondary Education at District & Block level with creation of DDEE, DDSE & SEO post, creation of Principal & HM/VP Post, Single Grade entry of teachers i.e. Primary Teachers (PRT) for Elementary and Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Secondary department, Notification of BEO RR, Timely conduct of DPC twice in a year for all categories, Group 'B' Gazette Status for PGT and Restoration of 50% promotional avenues for PRT through modification of TGT RR.
Further it stated the meeting decided that in event of failure to redress the demands of teachers of state the ATA would lead an intensified joint mass democratic movement with AASSATA and ARMSATA after the third phase of AASSATA strike.
CoSAAP’s two-day pen/tools down stir ends
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The two-day long Pen & Tools down strike of Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) ended peacefully on Friday. The state government employees attended their offices and put their attendance but did not discharge their duties for the second consecutive day.
The state government employees under the banner of CoSAAP were in agitation since Thursday. The Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat was also defunct for second day because of the two-day strike. The second day of agitation was supported by all the state government employees throughout the state, informed a CoSAAP release.
At Upper Siang and West Siang, all offices and establishments remained open but employees abstained from carrying out office works in wake of the agitation, which passed off, peacefully.
At Pasighat also, offices of almost all departments at the district headquarter besides Mebo, Ruksin and Nari sub-divisions remained defunct.
The CoSAAP further said that the state government employees will continue its third phase of democratic movement in the form of indefinite pen & tools down strike from Nov. 1 next in case the GoAP fails to redress its demands.
Racial violence against NE people: SC grants time to Centre
NEW DELHI, Oct 21: The Centre today got a week's time from Supreme Court to inform it about the proposal to set up a nodal agency to coordinate on the issue of hate crimes and racial violence, especially against the people of North East living in other states.
When the matter came up for hearing before a bench headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur, Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh said "I will take instructions from Ministry of Home and inform about the issue of nodal agency." The bench, also comprising Justices D Y Chandrachud and L Nageswara Rao, accepted the plea of the law officer and posted the matter for hearing on October 28.
The court on October 18 had expressed displeasure over the steps taken to address the issues of northeastern people, many of whom have fallen victims to hate crimes and racial violence in the past. The apex court had stressed that there should be a nodal agency to address the issues of the Northeastern people and such an agency, at the time of need, could be asked to implement measures and coordinate with various departments.
The bench had said the Bezbaruah committee, set up by the Union Home Ministry on February 5, 2014 after several incidents of hate crimes, had made several immediate and short term measures along with long term measures and all this should not remain only on paper. The bench, which has been hearing a batch of PILs filed in 2014 following several incidents of hate crimes in Delhi against persons hailing from Northeast, had also said that India had signed International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination way back in 1965.
The Bezbaruah panel was set up by MHA on February 5, 2014, to suggest "suitable remedial measures" which could be taken, in the wake of attacks on the people from the Northeast in Delhi and other parts of the country including the death of youth Nido Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh. The petition filed by Karma Dorjee and others had said that Bezbaruah panel had recommended changes in the IPC to curb and punish incidents of racial violence targeting people from Northeast region.
The petition had alleged that people from Northeastern region, who move out of their states in search of better opportunities for studies and jobs, were subjected to racial taunts and violence on a daily basis due to their physical appearance at the hands of people of their own country. PTI
The 8th wonder in the making

In the recent history of Arunachal Pradesh roadways, comparatively none of the accomplished or under-construction highways have earned the notoriety like 27 Km long Namchik-Miao Highway which is a recognized tourist thoroughfare as it connects the globe with the world famous Namdapha National Park (Project Tiger) in Changlang district.
The project earned the notoriety by provoking the ire of the usually calm public of Miao Sub-Division as well as forced them to take the street, not once but twice to protest against the inferior and turtle paced construction of the doomed highway.
Humorously tagged as the 8th wonder in the making, the Namchik-Miao Highway with a whopping cost of Rs 20 Crore (approximately) sanctioned under Non-Lapsable Central Pool Resources (NLCPR) fund began its 'two-lane' fantasy voyage in 2013. Three tumultuous years later, the highway that illuminated many hopes at the nascent stage is now battling for its own existence.
As usual, even the open display of public aghast and angers failed to stir the slumbering jacks from their never ending siesta. The arrogance of the constructing agency and the inaptness of the executing agency, PWD outlined the political patronage of the former commands. Or else what might be the reason that the perpetrator of the biggest highway blunder of the state is still pulling the strings and managing (read manipulating) the flop show.
From regional economy to edible commodities, the under-construction road has devastated all the disciplined cluster of the subdivision, foremost, it has jeopardized the budgeted lives of the common men. The 'two-lane' fantasy was anticipated to mitigate the sufferings, not to multiply it. Now and then, reports have been surfacing about patients succumbing midway to hospitals (Assam) due to delay and excessive bumps.
The nightmare of the subdivision doesn't end here; the revolting road has become the reason for unregulated price hikes in commercial sector. The final nail in the coffin is the concurrence of the local administration in allowing the public rip-off by commercial vultures on the ground of bad road.
The frustrated publics are skeptical of Namchik-Miao Highway ever being realized. According to their allegation, maximum percentage of the allotted fund has already been utilized (read looted) to convert the road from pleasant to perilous. Moreover, the 50 percent (approximately) of the road which was completed earlier has become the victim of deliberate delay and monsoon downpours. Is not it incredible that the 'all-weather-road' has succumbed to the very first monsoon season of its existence?
In short, the maximum portion of the completed part has already started wearing off (in most places it is hard to distinguish between the new and the old track) substantiating the public allegation that the quality has been compromised at will. The local's guaranties that by the time the current stretch is completed, the finished portion will replicate its original form.
As of now, all the odds are against the completion of Namchik-Miao Highway project. It is very likely that it might be merged with some other projects like Trans Arunachal Highway because this is the only option left to save face and finally, complete the 8th wonder and end the agonies of Miao subdivision. Road work left incomplete, causes concern

PASIGHAT, Oct 21: The half done carpeting work on PWD road linking National Highway-52 and Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) near Ruksin near here is drawing massive public ire and people are raising many questions against the department officials and the role of contractors concern.
The contractors concern, who started carpeting on the newly constructed road from NH-52 to ICG, Ngorlung via Linka village few months back, have left the work without carpeting near about 3.6 km road on two portion along the road. The rough and tough gravel along the incomplete road portions is a cause of concern for the commuters.
The reconstruction of the 6km long PWD road was under Thirteen Finance Commission in July, 2015. The scheduled time of completion of the work was set in March this year, but lapsed due to bad weather and sluggish management from the part of contractors. The amount of fund released for the road project was Rs 2 crores.
The road sanction was a part of commitments made by former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki during his Ruksin visit in February last year.
Meanwhile, PWD officials have warned the contractors concern to complete the remaining carpeting work without further delay. They have also cautioned them to conduct the remaining works by the department itself.
"We have asked the contractors to complete the works as per agreement. An amount of Rs 50 lakh against the carpeting work has been kept unpaid", informed T Jamoh, PWD Executive Engineer of Pasighat division.
SSB volunteers staged two-day dharna
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Hundreds of trained Internship Training Volunteers (ITVs) and Women Advance Training School (WATS) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the banner of All North East States SSB ITVs and WATs Welfare Association staged two-day dharna at Joyomoti Phattar, Tezpur in Assam from October 19 to 20 last.
The dharna was organized to attract the attention of the concerned authorities of SSB and Central government towards their demands which include granting of ex-gratia/compensation to aged ITVs and WATs of North East.
The SSB had imparted trainings to youths of north east on ITVs and WATs from year 1963 to 2001 for promoting national integration and security consciousness in the border areas and to organized the border population to resist the enemy.
The members also submitted a copy of memorandum to the Inspector General, SSB FHQ, Tezpur seeking immediate redressal of their demands. The memorandum reads, due to old aged many of the volunteers were unable to get job in any department and appealed for granting ex-gratia/compensation besides other benefits to the ITVs and WATs of North East. Failing to fulfill the demand the Association threatened to go for intensive democratic movement.

ITANAGAR, Oct 21: "Let us go, Dad," boy says.
"Wait for a minute, son."
I reply nonchalantly. I continue to chat with my old friend whom I have met after long time. The son moves around listlessly. After about ten minutes-
"Dad, can we go now?"
"Yes, my dear. Just after a minute, we shall go." I reply and continue to chat with my old friend with mugs of beer in between us. After another ten fifteen minutes, son gets more listless.
"I want to go now, Dad. Why are you taking so long?"
" Surely, surely... we must leave now. Only wait one minute. Then we are off...." I reply. Another ten- fifteen minutes passes off. Irritation is clearly seen on son's face. Now he asks in a determined voice-
"How many minutes are there in your one minute, Dad", he asks with a wry smile. I give a very benign smile and gently tell him-
"There are as many minutes in my one minute as there are when you are watching cartoon and we call you for dinner. Or better put, there are as many minutes in my one minute as there are in your one minute when you are playing computer game and ask us to wait for one minute even as we ask you to start your home work."
He looks at me with wonder struck face and his wry smile turns into sheepish smile. Compromise and understanding strike, we leave after about five minutes with our friendly leg pulling.
Just a pen picture of what transpired between me and my son during March 2011. Thinking back,I wonder how many minutes are there in one minute, or as my friend Tajang says...how long one minute is when waiting and how short an hour is when spent happily....

Nicham Sonam Bridge inaugurated at Seppa
SEPPA, Oct 21: The Nicham Sonam Bridge at Seppa was inaugurated on Friday by Parliamentary Secretary (Tax & Excise), Tapuk Taku.
Addressing a public gathering, Taku remembered the contributions of Nicham Sonam as a social reformer. His services toward a better East Kameng district shall always be remembered, he added.
Further saying that the Govt is looking into the demands of agitating CoSSAP members, the Parliamentary Secretary appealed them to resume their duty in greater interest of the society.
Chairman, EKSWCO, Khya Safar Pao called on all do good deeds so that they will be remembered even after they are long gone. He expressed gratitude to the state Govt and administration for naming the new bridge after Nicham Sonam.

AALO, Oct 21: Kabu Soccer Club on Monday became the last team to make it to the quarterfinals of the first Binga Ete Memorial Football Tournament, 2016.
In a do-or-die clash, Kabu SC beat FC Tadin by a thrilling 5-4 goals in a match played in front of thousands of screaming fans from both sides at general ground here.
Liyom Loya, Minto Loyi, Reken Loyi, Ginjom Loya, Likar Loya and Dodam Loyi scored for Kabu SC. For FC Tadin, Pagge Tashi scored twice while Byabang Doley and Tame Dolu scored a goal apiece.
Kabu SC became the second qualifier from pool A after Jummi Combats FC Bene, which won all its league matches.
As many as 120 goals were scored in the 28 league matches at 4.28 goals per match in the league stage of the tournament.
From Saturday, the quarterfinals of the tournament organized by the district sports association will begin.
In the first match, last year's DSA champion Jummi Combats FC Bene will play Gotu TK Darka while SFS FC will play surprise qualifier, Ngomdir PH FC in the second quarterfinals.
Vijaya Bank RGU Branch adopts girl child
RONO HILLS, Oct 21: The Vijaya Bank, RGU branch has adopted a girl child student from Govt. Secondary school, RGU campus.
The initiative is part of the national level scheme adopted by the Vijaya Bank on the occasion of its 86th Foundation day celebration observed on Friday.
Handing over the first cheque of Rs.5000 to the beneficiary Tana Jirma, a student of Class V from Sopo village under Doimukh circle, the Branch Manager Anjan Kumar Paul informed that the scheme named as CSR Activity- Girl Child Adoption by Rural and Semi Urban branches of Vijaya Bank is committed to extend an annual monetary support of Rs.5000 upto class XII and thereafter Rs.10,000 and Rs. 20,000 a year respectively in graduation and post graduation level of education of the selected girl.

Homage paid to Lt. Bomto Kamdak at DPVB
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: A homage service was organised in remembrance of Late Bomto Kamdak, DySP at Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan, Itanagar.
Police officers led by SDPO, Itanagar, Techi Hanyir participated in the service. It was an emotional moment for the teachers and students of the Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan to pay homage to a senior and former student of the school.

APIC regrets inadvertent headgear incident
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) on Friday regretted the distorted headgear incident during decennial celebration of RTI Act that was held on Wednesday here. Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society (NIFCS) strongly condemned the incident and had called for early replacement.
Regretting the incident, State Chief Information Commissioner Dr. Joram Begi in a press statement on Friday clarified that incident was inadvertent and had no intention to hurt the community sentiment by using religious symbol nor any attempt to distort any traditional attire of Nyishi community was made. Dr. Begi further informed that realizing their oversight, the commission has already started the replacement with a proper headgear.
He went on to clarify that the commission had decided to felicitate the dignitaries coming from outside the State to attend decennial celebration function with traditional items of Arunachal Pradesh.
" During the felicitation, my name was announced by anchor to present the traditional items to guests including Chief Guest Tamiyo Taga. I did not notice the religious symbol on headgear while doing the honour nor did any other member" Dr. Begi added.
He further stated that on being inquired, it was found that the staff who bought the traditional items did not even notice the symbol.
"We did not have any intention to use symbol of any particular religion in the programme nor to distort any traditional attire of Nyishi community" Dr Begi said while regretting the incident.
Clarification on mid-day meal
ROING, Oct 21: Clarifying to the allegations of not providing mid-day meals to the school children, Headmistresses of Government Primary Schools Simari-I and Simari-II informed that the schools provide mid-day meals to its children on every school day.
The headmistresses further informed that the meals were being provided till the first week of October but had to be put on hold due to delay in receiving the rice and other items of the mid-day meal plan for the next quarter.
Creation of additional Zilla Panchayat segments sought
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party, state secretary, social media & IT, Vijay Sonam has in a representation to the Chief Minister on Friday sought creation of two additional Zilla Panchayat segment in Bameng assembly constituency to ensure proper representation of Puroik and Sajolang community in local self government.
Informing that Bameng Assembly Constituency has only 2 ZPMS namely; Bameng (East) and Bameng (West), Sonam further said that of the three major tribes in the constituency, Nyishi, Sajolang (Miji) and Puroik community, both Sajolang and Puroik communities are yet to get proper representation in the local self governance.
'There is need to provide them with proper representation to uplift their socio-economic condition', he stated and suggested that Bameng West-II should be reserved for the Puroik and the Sajolang.
Further, Sonam suggested transfer of few villages of Khenewa circle like Nampe, Lamnio, Sario, Saria, etc, into Bameng assembly constituency to avoid administrative inconveniences.
ABFAR project launched in Bordumsa
Bordumsa, Oct 21: The Avoidable Blindness Free Arunachal (ABFAR) Project was launched by MLA Nikh Kamin at Community Health Centre, Bordumsa on Oct 20 in presence of large gathering of HODs, panchayat members, GBs, health workers and ASHAs.
While officially rolling out the project by starting the engine of Mobile Bus for the project, the MLA thanked the Operation Eyesight Universal (OEU), Chandraprabha Eye Hospital Jorhat and National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) for choosing Bordumsa for the project.
The MLA also appealed the village heads, PRI members and general public to avail the specialty services and take utmost care of the donated bus for the greater benefit of the community who are in dire need of eye care. He also appealed people to adapt with changes which are happening for the development of the society.
Earlier, the State Programme Officer (NPCB), Dr. Taba Khanna explained the concept and the benefits of the project which is being implemented in collaboration with Operation Eyesight Universal (OEU) and Chandraprabha Eye Hospital, Jorhat.
Programme Head of OEU, Franklin Daniel from Hyderabad while handing over the Mobile Bus to NPCB Arunachal, thanked the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh for collaborating with OEU through NPCB and pledged expansion of the project to other part of the state in near future.
The ADC, District Medical Officer, Changlang and Zilla Parishad Member also addressed the gathering.
The ABFAR Project is a Hospital Based Community Eye Health Programme (HBCEHP), a model developed for community eye care where the grass root health workers are intensively trained by OEU to survey, identify and refer cataract and other basic eye diseases for operation. For the purpose, the Bordumsa CHC was upgraded as Eye Base Hospital in 2015, where all identified operable cases will be operated by government surgeons.
Union appeals DC to initiate action against encroachers
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Claiming that rampant encroachments have been taking place at the premises of various government schools of the district, the Adi Students' Union (AdiSUSD) has in a complaint letter to the Siang DC on Friday appealed to him to serve show cause notice against the illegal occupants at the earliest.
The Government Higher Secondary Schools of Pessing, Rumgong, Boleng, Pangin and Kaying are the most affected, the Union claimed adding that the lackadaisical attitude of the administration has further prompted such rampant encroachment.
'Few teachers have constructed permanent structures near their government quarters, seeing them the other government officers and general public have also started to occupy large plots of land', it alleged and urged the DC to issue letter of intimation to the principal of above mentioned schools directing them to submit the names of illegal occupants.
Further, the union appealed to him to initiate strong action against encroachers of government land under Jomio Mobuk circle.
Motivational movie screening at IGGC
TEZU, Oct 21: In an effort to motivate and inspire the students, Department of Commerce led by Dr. K Rajendra Babu screened 'A small act'- an international award winning film at Indira Gandhi Government College here on Friday in the presence of faculty and huge number of students.
The 2010, HBO short movie, directed by Jennifer Arnold is based on the true story of Chris Mburu, a small boy living in a mud house in a Kenyan village. He has his primary and secondary education sponsored by a Swedish lady whom he has never met. He later graduates from Harward Law School with Fulbright Scholarship and becomes a United Nations Human Rights Commissioner. Inspired and moved by the generosity of his sponsorer for his studies, he starts a foundation in her name - Hilde Back Foundation and provides scholarships for poor Kenyan village children. Chris Mburu then decides to find the stranger who changed his life.
The movie gives a powerful message that a small help that we extend to others bring a big change in the lives of the beneficiaries. The movie also bears a witness as to how one can be grateful to those from whom we get help in our life. The movie also conveys the message that a small act of kindness can have a ripple effect and produce all kinds of good eventually in the world.
Workshop on career opportunities at JNC
PASIGHAT, Oct 21: A daylong workshop on 'Career Opportunities for Commerce Students" was organised by the UGC-Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, of JN College, Pasighat in collaboration with the IQAC of the College.
Speaking in the function, JNC Principal, Dr. Tayek Talom emphasised on the need of such programmes. He called upon the students to take opportunity of such tailor made programmes to ensure their own future.
Vice Principal, Dr.SD Choudhury focused on the present competitive world and suggested participants to select a particular career early and focus on that with the help of modern ICT.
Coordinator of UGC-Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, N.Tari highlighted on different initiatives taken by the cell to equip students with skills to face the future competitive world.
Coordinator IQAC, Dr. MA Salam explained how quality enhances productivity and early awareness of career opportunities could carve a better and bright future of the students.
Resource person Monjung Mossang, Asst.Prof of Commerce explained the employability skills in the modern competitive market. He focused on the time bound need of industry and how to acquire such skills sought by employers.
Dr.D.P.Panda, Associate Prof. of Commerce, focused on the details of professional and non-professional career opportunities before commerce students and provided tips to prepare for those careers. He explained the most sought career opportunities for commerce students like Chartered Accountancy (CA), Cost and Management Accounting (CMA), Company Secretary (CS), MBA etc. vis-à-vis Banking, Insurance and Financial sector services.
In the interactive session, the queries of participants were addressed by the resource persons and Dr. N.Kumar, HOD Commerce and Sodyong Cree, Asst. Prof.
Soft skill training begins
PASIGHAT, Oct, 21: In all, 70 students are taking part in a three-day long soft skill training for personality development, organized by the Students Counseling Cell of the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, which began on Friday.
CHF Pasighat Dean, Dr. A K Pandey, in his inaugural address said that skills like problem solving, logical thinking, leadership and communication are highly essential for candidates seeking jobs. He further hoped that such training will aid them in dealing with the challenges of the outside world more effectively and efficiently.
SWO and Training Coordinator, Krishna S. Tomar said that the real purpose of education is to equip students with the potential to meet challenges in life. For coping up with the growing demands of the day any student needs a strong personality to come out with flying colors, he added.
Disaster preparedness in school
YUPIA, Oct 21: A one-day awareness programme on disaster preparedness was organized at JNV School Doimukh by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Papumpare in collaboration with 12 NDRF Doimukh on Thursday. NDRF team led by Sub Inspector Indra Singh demonstrated on relief and rescue operations during any disaster situations. The DDMO Yupia Preetha Menon, teachers and school children attended the programme.
Global Iodine Deficiency Disease Prevention day observed
Yupia, Oct 21: The District Surveillance Society (IDSP) Yupia observed the Global Iodine Deficiency Disease Prevention Day with rest of the world on Oct 21. Awareness programmes were organised in Govt Middle School, Borum and Govt Upper Primary School, Yupia. DSO Yupia, Dr. R.R. Ronya lectured on IDD and Ili Angu, Epidemiologist DSU, Yupia demonstrated the procedure of testing iodine in the common salt using MBI kits.
Further, DMO Yupia Dr. T Kampu also distributed the Iodine Testing Kits and rulers to the students to mark the day. Among others Dr. J Ado, DRCHO, DANO, Dr. T.Raju, teachers and school children attended the programme. DIPRO
